FULLERTON — November 3, 2026. Fullerton’s Hunt Branch Library, designed by architect William Pereira, originally opened in September 1962 and reopened in April 2024 after closing in 2013.

A significant midcentury building

The city says Hunt Foods founder Norton Simon’s company gifted the library and that its first ninety days saw roughly 37,000 book loans. The architecture and open landscaped grounds are part of its local identity.

Restoration and public access

A city and community partnership restored the structure, upgraded accessibility, installed new lighting and windows and renovated the surroundings. The facility is again used for reading and community events.

Rentals have separate rules

The city advertises event rental possibilities for celebrations and gatherings. A restored public library does not mean every room is free for private use; residents should review the current permit and fee information before booking.
